Welcome back to this week’s’ New to me’ series! This week’s pick I found just roaming through the shelves at my library and picked one that I had heard about but never picked up before.
‘Bakuman’ is a comedy, slice of life, coming of age manga orginally published from 2008-2012. The series follows the tirals and tribulations of Moritaka Mashiro and Akito Takagi as they decide to become successful manga artists. I thought the premise behind the manga was interesting and was happy to see after some research that while there were some obvious exagerations that it wasn’t to far from the truth.
And on top of them teaming up to make an manga, Moritaka makes an agreement with Miho Azuki, his crush that once they achieve their personal goals they will get married. Which is very cute since she does agree but then she says they shouldn’t meet until then. Which is sad. But I get it. No distractions.
While I did find the series interesting, this will probably be one that I pick up sporadically rather than consistantly.
I hope you enjoyed today’s post. Have you read ‘Bakuman’? Let me know in the comments below. Have any manga recommendations? Feel free to share it with me!
