“But somehow we screamed louder, ran faster, fought harder. We survived.” Riley Sager, Final Girls
A horror film scenario translated to the page, Final Girls brings this phenomenon to a different light. Instead of seeing the events that lead to the creation of a final girl, we are given a peek into the aftermath of the event itself. With flashbacks intertwined with the plot, it is fast paced and difficult to put down.
This novel was intense. And definitely something outside of my comfort zone. I usually can not stand horror movies so why the hell would I choose to read a horror/thriller novel? I still don’t know but I am telling the truth when I say I am happy I did.
Quincy Carpenter is the lone survivor of a horrific event. It’s been ten years since the event and she is suddenly thrown back into the past. A sudden death and a sudden arrival bring to light long-forgotten memories and feelings for Quincy. Right from the first page, this book was set at a fast pace and became quicker and quicker right to the climax and the resolution.
And boy what a freaking twist. I really did not see it coming. I thoroughly enjoyed this read and am so glad I took a chance on it.
If you are feeling at all adventurous in your next read I suggest you try this one!
