I first read this book in the sixth grade as part of an assignment. Before reading this I hated books and I had an extremely difficult time just trying to read. But after reading this book I fell in love. This book encouraged me to find me to try and find more books like it.
It’s written towards a younger audience but at 21 I still love this book. And I consider it to be my favorite of all time. (Along with another few obviously.) But this is the book that started me on an obsessive path where I just read and read everything.
Without giving away anything, a simple plot summary is an orphaned child named Maia moves to the Amazon and goes on the adventure of a lifetime. She meets some amazing people and makes incredible memories. An uptight governess who is more than meets the eye, a young actor boy, and a mysterious boy living in the amazon add more adventure to the story. Mystery meets adventure and living through this story is one I want to relive over and over.
I think a perfect tea to go with this story is Tazo’s Passion tea. It’s fruity and floral and fits with a story set in the beautiful Amazon, following an adventure of a lifetime.
